About

My name is Amanda Peugnet and I am a printmaker. I make intaglio and relief prints. Displayed here is a series of intaglio prints with etching and aquatint technique. The intaglio prints are created through a long process, which begins with an original drawing created from my imagination. Then the drawing is transferred to a copper plate that has been coated with a chemical (asphaltum and turpentine) that protects and prevents the ferric chloride (acid) from eating the copper. I then re-draw the image over the chemical, exposing copper where I have drawn. I dip the copper plate in ferric chloride, which then eats away at the exposed copper, creating a groove on the copper. Once the plate is cleaned, I cover it with ink. The ink sits in the grooves on the copper plate. I wipe away the excess ink and print the image on paper using an etching press. I am then left with the image you see here! I hope you enjoy the art I create.

Please feel free to email me with any further questions, inquiries and/or commissions.

Thanks for taking a look!
